The “Grosser Garten” (Great Garden) in Dresden, today’s largest park in the city was built in 1676 at the behest of Elector Johann Georg III. , expanded several times in the course of its history, so that it has an almost rectangular floor plan on an area of approximately 1.8 square kilometers. Its length is about 1900 meters, the width reaches a maximum of 950 meters. The most important building in the center of the park is the summer palace built under the direction of Wolf Caspar von Klengel and Johann Georg Starcke around 1680.
