Basic Course on Nanoscience & Nanotechnology

A basic course starting from high school physics, chemistry and mathematics knowledge, towards basic concepts in Nanotechnology Science and Applications. This course is an opportunity for all engineers, and experts in fundamental science and biomedical engineering towards conceptual and technical understanding of nanoscale phenomena and unique nanomaterial properties for enhancement of their research works and career developments, scientifically and technically.

  • Lecture 2: Classification of nanomaterials and nanostructures (nanoparticles, quantum dots, nanocomposites, nanocoating, nano systems)
  • Lecture 3: Nanoscale and colloidal system properties: Transitions world from molecular to bulk scale
  • Lecture 4: Major size dependent properties (chemical, thermal, electrical, magnetic, optical, catalytic)
  • Lecture 5: Surface phenomena and properties at nanoscale, surface energy, electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions, capillary force.
  • Lecture 6: Synthesis and Fabrication Methods in Nanotechnology
  • Lecture 7: Nanotechnology Applications in Medicine & Healthcare
  • Lecture 8: Nanotechnology Applications in Electronics & Energy
  • Lecture 9: Experimental techniques and characterization methods-Part1 (microscopy techniques)
  • Lecture 10: Experimental techniques and characterization methods-Part2 (spectrometry techniques and other methods)
  • Lecture 11: Self-assembly structures (mechanisms, dynamics and application)
  • Lecture 12: Future Prospects, Opportunities, challenges (public health, environmental issues, …)
